Stats: Ross Taylor achieves a rare treble in International cricket
The Wellington Test is the 100th match in Ross Taylor's Test career.
Ross Taylor achieved a new milestone during the ongoing Test match against India in Wellington as this game is now his 100th appearance in the longest format. Taylor, soon to be 36, made his Test debut in 2007 during New Zealand’s tour of South Africa. The last game of the 5-match T20I series against India at the Bay Oval was Taylor’s 100th Twenty20 International appearance. With that, Taylor became the first player to feature in 100 T20Is for New Zealand Men’s team.
By featuring in the Wellington Test, Ross Taylor became the first player in the history of International cricket to appear in at least 100 matches in all the three formats. He represented New Zealand in 231 ODI matches till date. Taylor played his 100th ODI match during the 2011 CWC against Kenya. The first-ever player to appear in 50 matches in all three International formats was also from New Zealand – Brendon McCullum in 2012.
