Stats: Samiullah Shenwari scores an unbeaten 192 in Afghanistan One-Day Cup

Samiullah Shenwari produced one of the best one-day knocks on Wednesday during the ongoing Ghazi Amanullah Khan Regional One-Day tournament. The Afghanistan all-rounder led his team Speen Ghar Region from the front scoring an unbeaten 192-run knock during the chase. Shenwari’s knock helped his team to chase down the target of 347 set by Amo Region and register their 5th consecutive win in the tournament. Speen Ghar Region will now face Boost Region in the final of the tournament on Friday.

Samiullah walked out to bat at No.5 when his team was reeling at 64/3 in the big chase. Zahidullah got out in the very next over before the skipper Samiullah shared a 97-run crucial stand with Naqib Nangarhari (42). After completing his fifty in 52 balls, Shenwari changed the gears as he needed only 29 balls for his century hitting five fours and three sixes in it. With six fours and two sixes in the next 26 balls, he completed his 150 and thus becoming the first player to score a List A 150 in Afghanistan.

Highest List A scores while chasing:

Shenwari got full support from the No.7 batsman Mohammad Ishaq (36* off 36). The pair added an unbeaten 186-run stand in only 106 balls for the 6th wicket to take Speen Ghar past the target with two balls to spare. Samiullah Shenwari remained unbeaten on 192 in only 123 balls which he scored with 16 fours and 11 sixes. Shenwari’s unbeaten 192 is now the 4th highest individual score in List A cricket while chasing. Callum Ferguson recently scored 192 in Royal London One-Day Cup while Kamran Akmal became the second List A double centurion in a chase during 2017/18 season.

Samiullah’s unbeaten 192 is also the highest individual List A score by any player while batting at No.5 and a lower position. Raqibul Hasan scored 190 in the 2017 Bangladesh Domestic One-Day tournament while batting at No.5 also during a chase. The totals of 347/5 and 346/7 recorded by Speen Ghar and Amo Region in this game are the top two highest List A team totals in Afghanistan.
