Rohit Sharma has rocketed past Yuvraj Singh to enter into the list of top five Indian batsmen to hit most sixes in the One-Day International cricket. The stand-in skipper is in amazing touch in the ongoing second ODI of the three-match series against Sri Lanka in Mohali. He went past Yuvraj as far as sixes are concerned who has 153 of them in his International career. However, the former captain MS Dhoni leads the charts after pummelling the bowlers around the world in his illustrious career so far.

Dhoni currently has 209 sixes to his name as he too managed to hit a massive hit over deep mid-wicket in the ongoing match. He is followed by the master blaster Sachin Tendulkar with as many as 195 maximums in his 24-year international career. Then comes another former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly who bid adieu to ODI cricket with 189 sixes. Though Rohit looks set to take over all these legendary cricketers with the way he is playing right now in the limited overs format.

Rohit adds 12 more sixes to his tally

Rohit Sharma was in scintillating mood during the game and led from the front while opening the innings against Sri Lanka. He saw off the new ball under hazy conditions in Mohali and then latched onto the freebies offered by the Sri Lankan bowlers. He notched up his century with some sensible shot-making off 115 deliveries which was also his 16th one in his ODI career. However, he teed off after that he smashed every bowler who came his way for gigantic sixes.

Sharma started hitting sixes at will and smashed as many as 12 of them in his innings and also went on to score his third double-century in the ODI format. He is the first cricketer to do so in the history of the game as Rohit is climbing up the ladder very quickly with 162 sixes to his name. If he continues in the same form in South Africa, India will surely give them the tough time in their own den.
