Stats: Top 10 Batsmen fastest to 9000 ODI runs

MS Dhoni became the 6th fastest in terms of innings taken to complete 9000 runs in ODI cricket during the 3rd ODI against New Zealand at Mohali. The Indian captain became the 5th Indian to complete 9000 runs in ODI cricket and 17th in overall. He became the first batsman to go past the milestone with an average over 50.

MA Dhoni, who came out to bat at no.4, completed 9000-run milestone with a six down the ground off Mitchell Santner. Thus, he became the 2nd batsman to complete 9000 runs in ODI cricket with a six. Sourav Ganguly also completed his 9000-run milestone with a six. The likes of Sachin Tendulkar, Brian Lara, Ricky Ponting, Rahul Dravid, Adam Gilchrist and Mohammad Yousuf completed their 9000 ODI runs milestone with a four.

Dhoni played as a wicket-keeper throughout his career. Thus became only the 3rd player to complete 9000 runs in ODIs as a keeper.
