Stats: Top 10 run-scores in the Champions Trophy
Sachin Tendulkar, who held or still holds almost all major records in the ODI format, doesn’t make an appearance in the top run-getters in the Champions Trophy.
It might be a surprise for one and all as the Champions Trophy is yet to witness a batsman score a 150 even after near two decades of its existence unlike the other ICC tournament, the ODI World Cup which has even seen batsmen score double tons.
This also ensures the leading run-scorers in CT are not separated by a huge margin as there is only a 174-run difference among the top 6 run-getters in the 7 editions of the Champions Trophy so far with the West Indian, Chris Gayle occupying the lead position with 791 runs.
The Sri Lankan duo Mahela Jayawardene and Kumar Sangakkara, who made appearances in 6 editions garbed the next two spots with 742 and 683 runs respectively. Former Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly takes the 4th place with 665 runs which he scored at a stunning average of 73.88. Gayle, Ganguly and Gibbs scored 3 centuries each, the most number of centuries by any batsman in the Champions Trophy so far.
Kallis stands at the 5th place with 653 runs, 8 runs behind Ganguly. The only another player with 600 runs in CT is Rahul Dravid who scored 627 runs in the 6 editions he featured in at a healthy average of 48.23 runs with 6 fifties. Among the players who will be featuring in the 2017 edition, AB de Villiers has got the most runs in CT with 378 runs in 10 outings.
