Stats: Virat Kohli breaks the record for most ODI centuries in run-chases

Out of Kohli's 18 centuries in run-chases, India managed to win 16 games while they lost twice.

Virat Kohli yet again proved his credentials while chasing as the Indian skipper scored an unbeaten 111 against the Windies in the final ODI to clinch the series 3-1. With this hundred, Kohli now has 28 ODI centuries out of which he has scored 18 while chasing.

By virtue of this ton, he broke the record of most ODI centuries by a batsman while chasing which was earlier held by Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar who scored 17 hundreds in run chases. Kohli and Sachin stand long way ahead of the players who have scored centuries in ODI run chases as the 3rd best in the list is 6 centuries behind Sachin’s tally of 17.

In addition to 18 hundreds, Kohli has 28 fifties as well while chasing in ODI cricket. This puts Kohli at the 3rd place along with Sourav Ganguly in the list of most fifty-plus scores while chasing in ODIs. He might need a handy couple of years to go past Sachin who sits at the top of the list with 69 fifty-plus scores.

Out of Kohli’s 18 centuries in run chases, India managed to win 16 games while they lost twice. With 16 centuries in successful run chases, Kohli bettered his own record whereas Sachin Tendulkar stands at No.2 with 14 100s in successful chases. No one except Kohli and Sachin has 10 centuries in successful ODI chases to their credit.
