Indian captain Virat Kohli was dismissed for a duck against England in the second Test being played at Chepauk. Virat got out on the fifth ball he faced in his innings against Moeen Ali. He looked in utter disbelief after being bowled without scoring a run.
Earlier in the day, India opted to bat first after winning the toss. India posted a total of 300/6 in 88 overs till the end of first day’s play. Opener Rohit Sharma hit a marvellous century scoring 161 runs off 231 balls. Vice-Captain Ajinkya Rahane had an important contribution of 67 runs off 149 balls in India’s innings. Both Rohit and Rahane added 162 crucial runs for the fourth wicket.
Rishabh Pant and Axar Patel are still on the crease for India in the first innings. Pant has scored 33 runs off 56 balls till now with the help of 5 fours and 1 six.

1 – Virat got out on a duck to a spinner for the first time in his International career. Moeen Ali now has the honour to claim this unique record.
11 – This was Virat’s 11th duck in Test cricket. Four of these have been golden ducks, while he has got out on the second ball on four occasions among the eleven. Virat’s first duck in Test cricket was against West Indies in 2011.
26 – Virat now has a total of 26 ducks in International cricket. First such occasion was in 2010 when Virat got run-out without troubling the score against Zimbabwe.
12 – Virat has registered 12 ducks while leading India in International cricket. He has second-most ducks among Indian captains after Sourav Ganguly who picked up 13 ducks in his captaincy.
1 – Chepauk is the only venue in International cricket where Virat Kohli got out for a duck more than twice. He was first dismissed without scoring in Chennai against Pakistan in 2012. Later on, in 2017, he picked up a duck against Australia. Apart from Chepauk, Virat got out for nought twice at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru.
5 – Among all the years in his career, Virat got most ducks(5) in 2017. With 2 noughts in ODIs in 2017, he registered most ducks by an Indian captain in a calendar year since 2006.
4 – Since his debut, Virat Kohli is in the fourth spot among top-order batsmen(1-7) with most ducks in International cricket. Tamim Iqbal is at the first position in this record with 30 ducks.
2012 – The last instance of Indian captain bagging a duck in home Test was MS Dhoni against England in Kolkata Test, 2012. Dhoni got out on the third ball he faced in his innings.
