Virat Kohli once again set an example of leading from the front with an unbeaten 160-run innings in the Cape Town ODI to help India to continue their domination in the series. After coming to bat in the 2nd over of the innings, Kohli put on a 140-run stand for the 2nd wicket with Shikhar Dhawan but was short of support after that. Anchoring the innings with an unbeaten knock in hot conditions, Kohli guided India’s total to 303/6.

1 – Virat Kohli became the first visiting captain to score multiple centuries in a bilateral ODI series in South Africa. He is the 4th visiting player to score more than one hundred in a series against the hosts after Kevin Pietersen in 2005, David Warner and Joe Root in 2016.
3 – Number of 150+ scores in ODI cricket for Virat Kohli. Among Indian players, only Sachin Tendulkar and Rohit Sharma (5 each) have more such scores in this format.
6 – Virat Kohli aggregating 300+ runs in this series is the 6th such instance for him in a bilateral ODI series. No other player scored 300+ runs in more than four bilateral ODI series.
12 – Number of centuries in ODI format for Virat Kohli as captain. These are the most number of ODI centuries for an Indian captain. He went past Sourav Ganguly’s 11 ODI tons and stands only behind Ricky Ponting (22) and AB de Villiers (13) in the overall list.

318 – Kohli’s 318 runs in this series are already the most for any player in a bilateral ODI series against South Africa. Sourav Ganguly aggregated 285 runs in 2000 home series against the Saffers.
