Stats: Worcestershire chase down 352 with help of a 47-ball century from Wessels
Here are all the major stats and numbers recorded during a high-scoring day in the One-Day Cup.
Worcestershire successfully chased down the target of 352 against Derbyshire as opener Riki Wessels struck a 62-ball 130 smashing 11 maximums and 10 fours. Callum Ferguson’s unbeaten 103 took Worcester past the winning line in the 49th over for the loss of six wickets. Luis Reece (128) and Wayne Madsen (113) struck hundreds for the home team but it wasn’t enough on a belter of a surface.
Monday turned out to be a high-scoring day in the Royal London One-Day Cup as all the three completed games witnessed two 300+ totals. Nottinghamshire bounced back from 116/5 to chase down Northamptonshire’s total of 325/7 in Northampton. Nottingham sneaked in a 1-wicket win thanks to a Samit Patel’s unbeaten 136. Leicestershire bundled out Warwickshire to 304 in Leicestershire to clinch a 36-run win.

7 – Number of successful chases of 350+ target on England soil in List A cricket; the most in any country surpassing six such chases in India. Out of the seven 350+ chases in England, six of them have been recorded since the conclusion of the 2015 World Cup.
13 – As many as 13 targets of 350+ have been successfully chased down in List A cricket since 2017 and five on English soil. The first 54 years of List A cricket witnessed only 15 successful run-chases of 350+.
11 – Riki Wessels became the first player to hit ten or more sixes in a List A innings for Worcestershire. Tom Moody’s seven sixes in the 1990/91 season against Zimbabwe are the previous most sixes hit in a List A innings by a Worcestershire batsman.
Overall, only three players hit more than 11 sixes in a List A innings while playing for a first-class county team. Ryan ten Doeschate hit 15 sixes during his 180-run knock against Scotland in 2013 while Darren Stevens smashed 14 for Kent against Glamorgan in 2017. Ali Brown struck as many as 12 maximums during his One-Day record innings of 268 in 2002 for Surrey against Glamorgan.
47 – Riki Wessels’ 47-ball century in this game is the 2nd fastest List A century recorded for Worcestershire. Moeen Ali scored a 46-ball ton against Northamptonshire during the 2007 NatWest Pro40 League.
352 – Worcestershire’s 352-run chase is their 2nd highest successful chase in List A cricket. They chased down 377 against Leicestershire in 2018 One-Day Cup game in Worcester. Overall, this is the 6th instance of a team successfully chasing down 350+ in England Domestic One-Day Cup. Five of those six chases have been recorded since 2017.
Worcestershire are only the 5th team to chasing 350+ on two different instances in List A cricket. India recorded three such chases while England and South Africa also had two chases of 350+ in ODI cricket. Somerset is the other domestic team to chase 350+ twice in One-Day matches.
A close finish in Northampton:
326 – Nottinghamshire’s 326-run chase against Northamptonshire is the 10th highest successful chase in List A cricket for the loss of nine wickets. This is also the highest successful List A chase by a 1-wicket margin in England. Essex’s 319-run chase in 1992 against Lancashire is the previous highest List A chase in England for the loss of nine wickets.
