Steve Smith, the current Aussie captain has powered Australia to a position of great strength on day two of the ongoing third Test match at Ranchi. Smith, has once again proved to the world why he is considered one of the current best with his unbeaten knock of 178 runs off 361 deliveries. The right-handed batsman has looked particularly solid throughout the course of the series and the fairy tale continued in the third Test as well.

Smith’s innings was greatly supported by an excellent Glenn Maxwell who brought up his maiden Test ton and entered the list of players who has scored centuries in all three formats of the game. Though Ravindra Jadeja got rid of the well settled Maxwell at a score of 104, the Australian captain kept the scoreboard ticking. Smith saw off spin and pace effortlessly as he marched towards his score of 178* which included 17 boundaries.

Smith’s innings defies sheer class that the man produces as he looked absolutely comfortable against a fiery Indian spin attack which got rid of most of the other Australian wickets. The 27-year-old is at his peak right now and is receiving praise from all over the world courtesy to a brilliant ton against the Indians.

Smith rubbed off all the blames that were put on him after his controversial dismissal in the second Test at Bengaluru. He was labelled as a “cheat” for trying to consult the dressing room about using the decision review system but this brilliant inning from the right-hander definitely shuts up everyone.

Steve’s innings helped Australia reach a respectable total of 451 runs which is the highest so far in the series. Australia would now be hoping to restrict India to a lowest possible score to gain the advantage in the match and as well as the series.
