Former Australia skipper Steve Smith, along with his teammates, has returned to cricket after a break of around six months. He is currently in England on a limited-overs tour with three ODIs yet to be played. The three-match T20I series concluding only on Tuesday. All of those matches were played in Southampton while the 50-over matches will now be played in Manchester from September 11.

While travelling to Manchester in a bus with the team, Steve Smith decided to do a Q&A on his official Instagram handle and answered quite a few interesting questions. The fans were up to the task as they quizzed arguably Australia’s best batsman with different sort of questions.

When asked about the best ODI batsman in the world, he named India skipper Virat Kohli. The pick from Smith was spot on as the latter has been ruling the format with the bat for a long time now and is supremely consistent. Smith also termed AB de Villiers as ‘freak’ when he was asked to describe the former South Africa cricketer in one word.

Steve Smith features for the Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League (IPL) and will be soon joining the franchise in the UAE after England tour. His camaraderie with the Indian players including Sanju Samson is well known to everyone. During the Q&A session, when asked about Samson, the 31-year-old praised him stating that he is a talented batsman. Smith also termed KL Rahul as the gun batsman having experienced his exceptional batting first hand.

Steve Smith also revealed that he decided to play for Australia when he was just four years old and the legendary players like Mark Waugh and Michael Slater were his favourite batsmen in his younger days. Moreover, Ricky Ponting and Jonty Rhodes are his favourite fielders and the choices are perfect as both the cricketers were gun fielders in the middle.

Smith’s love for Tennis is well known to his fans and if not for cricket, he would’ve opted it as a career. The man revealed it before winding up his Insta session.
