Banned former Australian skipper Steve Smith lost his balance and fell down while playing a pull shot at nets in Sydney Cricket Ground. Smith, who is currently serving a ban of one year after his alleged involvement in ball-tampering saga earlier this year, was helping his teammates to prepare for the upcoming series against India which is starting in Adelaide on December 6.
Banned Australian captain, facing the likes of Josh Hazlewood, Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins, lost his footing while attempting a pull shot against a well-aimed bouncer by Hazlewood and fell down. However, the 29-year-old was quick to get back up on his feet which was a positive sign.
Despite having not played a first-class match since the infamous Cape Town Test in March, the right-handed batsman looked in great touch with his unorthodox style of play and proved to be more than a match for the Australian bowling trio.

On Sunday it was David Warner, tasked with facing Australia’s Test quicks in an intense net session. Smith, along with Warner and Cameron Bancroft, is serving a ban for the involvement in the incident at Newlands in Cape Town. Both the former captain and vice-captain are allowed to make a comeback only in the last week of March next year when their ban ends. Bancroft, on the other hand, is allowed to play from the last week of December this year.
Australia have already named their squad for the first two Tests against India. Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood, Pat Cummins, Peter Siddle, and Chris Tremain will take care of the pace bowling duties. The hosts have two uncapped players in the form of Marcus Harris and Tremain, both from Victoria. The first Test of the series will be played in Adelaide, starting December 6 followed by Tests in Perth (14 Dec- 18 Dec), MCG (26 Dec- 30 Dec), and SCG (3 Jan- 7 Jan) respectively.
