Steve Smith's fiancé behind his massive success
"She is such a pivotal part to the success of what you see on the field," Smith's manager said.
Currently ranked number 1 Test batsman in the world in the longest format of the game Steve Smith’s manager Warren Craig has revealed that the Australian skipper takes help from his fiancé Dani Willis while practising for the games.
Smith is enjoying a brilliant run as he continues to dominate the English bowlers in the ongoing Ashes series. He played brilliant innings of 141 runs in the first Test of the Ashes 2017-18 and has continued the rich form. He currently averages a whopping 60 plus in Test match cricket.
The 28-year-old started his cricketing career as a spinner in the side who used to bat lower down the order. Talking to BCC Test Match Special, Craig said, “If he’s at home and he can’t find anyone else to go and practice with, he gets his fiancé to feed balls into the bowling machine just so he can go and have a hit.”
Smith got engaged to his long-time girlfriend Dani in New York in the month of June earlier this year. “Dani enjoys that part of the things. She has been absolutely fantastic for Steve,” said Craig.
Talking about how important role she has played in Steve Smith’s career, he further mentioned that “She is such a pivotal part to the success of what you see on the field. She’s a calming influence. She knows when his mind is ticking over too much, to sort of get his mind away from cricket. They are a great couple of and got engaged recently.”
Smith along with Indian skipper Virat Kohli, English captain Joe Root and Black Caps skipper Kane Williamson are in the race of the best current batsmen in the game of cricket. And the way Smith is motoring ahead with brilliant performances almost every game, it will be a great fight among the modern fab four.
