Australia captain Steven Smith has bought a new house in his home city, Sydney. This the second property investment the cricketer has made this year. This has been confirmed by his father, Peter Smith. Speaking from Sydney on Monday morning, he said, “As with all sportsmen they have a limited life where they can make good money. Consequently, they need to invest intelligently for their future.”
“Steven’s investments are private; they are his way of preparing for his future. They include the two houses at Balmain, but nothing to get excited about.”
However, the 26-year-old Smith, who was recently ruled out of the is returning home from the IPL due to his right-hand wrist injury, is likely to continue staying at his present house, according to his Estate Consultant, M/s McGrath Estate Agents.
Karl Howard, the executive at M/S McGrath, said, “Smith purchased through an advisor who buys property for him in Sydney. The advisor is a long time Balmain resident. Both purchases were in Balmain which is close to the CBD and an area of excellent growth property wise the last 2 years. I believe money from the IPL would have obviously helped with the potential to purchase the property.”
“It is an investment apartment so he won’t move into it, he will rent it out. The purchase was made very decisively, with a phone call received in the morning leading to a meeting with Mr.Smith’s advisor at the property that afternoon then a brief negotiation on price and a sale the next day by COB. There were two other interested buyers but Smiths ability to move quickly secured the deal for him,” Howard added.
“It has been an absolute pleasure to help Australian Captain Steve Smith add to his property portfolio. It is great to see someone so young investing in Real Estate. Balmain is a truly wonderful area and I’m sure he will be very happy with the investment,” Ben Munro Smith, another Licensed Real Estate Agent at M/s McGrath, said.
“The area is close to the city, has a number of beautiful harbor front parks and reserves and is home to some of the best cafes and restaurants in all of Sydney. This really highlights the strength of the local marketplace and the value we can all see in Australian Real Estate now and in the future.”
“This beautiful apartment looks over Local Park, Ann Cashman reserve and is nearby many of Balmain’s local shops, cafes and amenities. Many famous Australian’s call Balmain home, a trend sure to continue,” Ben Munro signed off.
