There are very few cricket enthusiasts in existence who’ve failed to be impressed by the brilliance of English bowling all-rounder, Stuart Broad. Armed with the astounding figures of 2768 runs and 384 wickets in 107 Tests, Broad has emerged as one of England’s frontline pacers and his attacking opening bowling partnership with James Anderson, in particular, is an exquisite affair to behold. Recently, 31-year-old Broad expressed his hopes of being able to continue his career beyond the upcoming Ashes and play in the 2019 edition of the prestigious bilateral series.

Being a senior member of the squad, Broad offers excellent mentoring to the youngsters apart from his excellent skills as a cricketer. In a recent interview, he described his “hunger” to go beyond the 2017 Ashes and also talked about his fitness. Broad also lauded his fellow pacer, Anderson richly and termed the England pace spearhead to be “bowling as well as” he had ever seen him bowl.

Wants to play beyond the upcoming Ashes

Speaking about his desire to be a part of the England team for beyond the upcoming Ashes series, Broad said, “Oh God, yes, I hope so. I’ll be just turned 33. Jimmy is 35 now so I’d certainly hope my performances will keep improving to be a part of that Ashes for sure. I’m not someone who looks too far ahead because I think it slows you down as a performer. This winter is a hugely exciting one because I think that series is going to be a belter with two teams that look really similar. But obviously, I have the hunger to go further than that.”

As reported by cricket.com.au, he also opened up about his current fitness and added, “I’m 31 now and still feel like I have quite a bit of cricket left in me. I’m loving the energy around this team, I’m loving being part of it. At 31 I’ve hopefully, touch wood, got a few more miles in the tank.”

Praising his partner in crime

Broad went onto shower praise on his pace partner, James Anderson on his current form and said, “To be fair, Jimmy is bowling as well as I’ve seen him bowl. He’s turned 35 but I don’t think I’ve ever seen him challenge both sides of the bat as consistently as he has done this summer. Fielding at mid-on and mid-off to him, I feel like he is in the game all the time. He’s not bowling bad balls, he looks in a rhythm that’s awesome. Long may that continue.”
