England cricket team is in Australia currently preparing for the stern test in the upcoming Ashes series commencing on November 23. Though the team seems to be enjoying the company of each other under the new captain Joe Root. They are defending the urn after winning it in 2015 when last time the series was played at their home. However, amidst all this, Root tried to fox the fast bowler Stuart Broad in the ongoing tour which eventually came back to bite him.

Mitchell Johnson wreaked havoc in 2013 when England toured down under last time and were also whitewashed on the tour. This time around the Aussies have Mitchell Starc who has geared up for the contest with two hat-tricks in a single game in the ongoing Sheffield Shield season. The visitors would love to negate his threat during the series and make Australia work hard for their wickets. Root himself would also be looking to lead from the front with the bat in hand.

Broad recalls the incident

Stuart Broad, England fast bowler, recalled the incident on the tour when his skipper tried to fox him. Root made a joke of the Aussie Rules player Nathan Broad who was involved in some scandal and clicked a picture of the news in the newspaper covering Nathan; He sent the picture to Broad which shocked him literally wondering what he had done.

“He stuffed me out of sight. There’s an Aussie Rules player called Nathan Broad who had been involved in some scandal or other. Anyway, Rooty put all the papers lined up together just with the ‘Broad in sexting scandal’ headline showing and sent a picture to me and Neil Fairbrother (the former England batsman, who is now Broad, Root and Ben Stokes’ manager), who has obviously had a tough couple of months,” he said as quoted by Cricinfo.

“I woke up with five different papers saying ‘Broad in scandal’ and thought, ‘Oh no, what have I done?’ But then the papers called him ‘Average Joe’ the next day, so it came back to bite him,” he added. Broad is expecting to lead the bowling attack and bundle Aussies out early much like he did last time around in 2015 at home.
