England speedster Stuart Broad will not be involved in any cricketing action until the Ashes series against Australia in November. According to Sky Sports, the bowler has decided to take a break and recover from the pain he picked up in his heel during the final Test against the West Indies at the iconic Lord’s Stadium.
Details:
The 31-year-old quickie underwent and precautionary scan and fortunately for the team, it showed no severe damage. Broad was the second highest wicket taker in the recently concluded Test chapter against the West Indies at home along with compatriot Ben Stokes. The lanky pacer ended the campaign with 9 wickets to his name, 10 short of James Anderson’s 19 in the series.
England reigned supreme in the 3 match Test series with a hard fought 2-1 win. The first Test at the Oval saw a mammoth bowling performance from the English team as they took 19 wickets on a single day to thump the West Indies by an innings. The West Indies team was subjected to an immense amount of criticism for their horrific display with the bat away from home.
However, Stuart and his side made a stunning comeback in the second Test at Headingley. West Indies picked up the victory in the 2nd Test chasing down a target of 322 runs in the second innings. Twin centuries from Shai Hope and incredible support from Kraigg Brathwaite saw the West Indies go past the English hurdle in the second round.
The Englishmen marked their second consecutive home Test series victory by beating the WIndiesdies at Lords in the 3rd Test. England defeated South Africa at home prior to the series against Jason Holder and his men.
Nonetheless, Stuart Broad will have a crucial role to play when England lock horns with the Aussies for the real deal. England will bank heavily on the likes of Anderson, Broad, and Stokes to pick up the main Australian scalps.
