Stuart Broad undergoes heel injury ahead of the South Africa series
Not a good news for the Englishmen ahead of the South African series
England fast bowler Stuart Broad has recently undergone a heel injury while representing his county Nottinghamshire against Leicestershire in the Specsaver County Championship Division Two at Trent Bridge, Nottingham. He is hence doubtful for the England-South Africa Test series scheduled to start on July 6 at Lord’s.
However, as per reports from the scan, it did not detect any major scare for the lanky pacer but is expected to miss next week’s county championship match before the all-important South Africa series begins. According to the coach of Nottinghamshire, Peter Moores, the pain in his heel has been existent for a while. But looking at the injury scare, Stuart Broad had to pull out of the match even though he could have played on for few more time.
“Stuart had a bit of pain in his heel, he’s had it for a while. If the situation had been different, he could have pushed on through it but there was no need to, so he came off and we’ll monitor it and look after him.” said Peter Moores according to the Telegraph. Nottinghamshire went on to win the match by a massive margin of an innings and 280 runs.
England last played a Test series in West Indies following their humiliating loss to the Indians in the sub-continent. With Chris Woakes already out of the series in due to the injury he picked up during the match against Bangladesh. James Anderson also makes a comeback in the scheme of things after a break as he suffered a tear to his right groin while bowling for Lancashire last month.
Ben Stokes had been playing already with a knee strain in the recently concluded Champions Trophy. Looking at the injury troubles of the side, it may be comprehended that the team’s bowling line-up may receive a huge blow in the upcoming match.
