Sunil Gavaskar names two players who are going to win more games for India

The Indian team departed from South Africa after a successful limited-overs series. While the visitors completely decimated the Proteas in the One Day format, there was an exciting contest between both teams in the shortest format. The victories in the limited overs format came for India after a 2-1 loss in the Test series.

Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav again grabbed the limelight for their excellent bowling in the middle overs. Then it was Virat Kohli who’s splendid consistency throughout the tour made the cricketing universe awestruck. Former Indian cricketer Sunil Gavaskar was all praise for the spin twins and the Indian skipper.

Chahal-Kuldeep going to win many matches for India

The way both Chahal and Kuldeep have bowled in the series, a lot of praise has been lamented towards them. Sunil Gavaskar asserted that the South African batsmen were made to look like schoolboy cricketers by the spin duo. He further showed faith in them to deliver in the longest format as well on the back of their success in the shorter formats.

“If the South African batsmen thought they could break free in the middle-overs, they were in for a surprise as the two wrist spinners, Chahal and Kuldeep made them play the wrong line and made them look like schoolboy cricketers. These two, with their guile and more importantly big heart and super confidence, are going to win many more games for India and not just with the white ball but the red ball too.” He wrote in his column for the Times of India.

Virat Kohli was way above everyone else 

The Indian skipper was in another league when it came to consistency. He amassed a total of 871 runs across all formats throughout the tour. Gavaskar highlighted that the loss in the first two Tests was large because of Kohli being dismissed early in the fourth innings. He remarked that there was a gigantic difference between Virat Kohli and all the other players in the field.

“Kohli’s failures in those two last outings also made a huge difference for he was way above everybody else. It was like being in an elevator with some rugby players like I experienced in Johannesburg. So gigantic was the difference in ability and temperament between the Indian captain and the other 21 players on the field.”
