The Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) have regained a strong momentum with three consecutive wins in IPL 2022, and are positioned seventh in the points table. Currently, they are featuring in their sixth league match of the tournament against Punjab Kings (PBKS). The former Indian cricketer turned commentator, Nikhil Chopra opened up about their bowling unit, and gave his views on some of the batters of SRH as well.
Chopra reckoned that SRH have the best bowling attack, with the presence of quality bowlers for every situation of the match. He was impressed with the performances of Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Marco Jansen in the powerplay overs. Chopra felt that Natarajan is the most consistent player to hit yorkers in world cricket and is the death over specialist. Further, he also claimed that Umran Malik has been the find of the season with his express pace and aggressive bowling.
“Both are very good and effective, from the first over itself, Bhuvi moves the ball around and Marco Jansen has been able to do something with the new ball due to his exposure in test cricket. The lengths of Jansen have created doubts within the minds of the batsmen, and that’s what he wants.
“Natarajan is the death over-specialist and certainly has been the most consistent bowler to bowl lethal yorkers, and has been phenomenal. Along with them, Umran Malik is also there, who is the find of this season. All in all, they have a quality bowling attack,” said Nikhil Chopra on on Sky247.net presents ‘Not Just Cricket Show’ on CricTracker.
Rahul Tripathi is the glue that binds the batting order of SRH: Nikhil Chopra
Chopra reckoned that Rahul Tripathi‘s last innings (71 off 37 balls) against KKR was terrific, and has reduced the pressure from the team in middle overs by his quickfire innings in the tournament. He thinks the SRH are still struggling to get runs in the power-play overs. In the end, he said that most of the fans and cricket pundits were writing SRH off, but the team has fought back well to get three wins under their belt.
“The last innings of Tripathi was unbelievable, and I am glad that he has been able to get that sort of runs. He is literally the glue that binds the whole batting order, and has scored runs at a terrific strike rate. They are still not able to score enough runs in the powerplay, and Abhishek and Williamson did not contribute enough in the last match. But, the team found their way back, have fought back, and crawled their way back,” Chopra added.
