Sunrisers Hyderabad rely heavily on their top four : Lalchand Rajput

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) started the tournament with two losses, but have certainly gained momentum with wins in the last two league matches. Currently, they are facing the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in Match 25 of IPL 2022. The former Indian cricketer Lalchand Rajput discussed the form of SRH and the skills of some of their bowlers.

Rajput reckoned that Washington Sundar’s injury will be a worrying factor for SRH due to his improved performance in both departments over the last year. He further went on to state that the team’s comfort zone is to chase the totals of around 160, as they are dependent on their top-four batters like Kane Williamson, Abhishek Sharma, Rahul Tripathi, and Nicholas Pooran.

“Sundar is an important member of the side. He can bowl and field well and has been in good form with the bat. The vacuum will certainly be created in his absence. They rely heavily on Willamson and Sharma, and their comfort zone is to chase the target of around 160-170. They rely heavily on the top four, including the likes of Tripathi as well, and it was an important innings for Pooran in the last game. Bhuvneshwar Kumar is a quality bowler: Lalchand Rajput 

Rajput feels Bhuvneshwar Kumar is quite intelligent with his variations, has a good yorker, and his experience in the T20 format is helping him to do well in the death overs. He further gave his view on youngster Umran Malik as a future prospect for the Indian team due to his pace and mental strength.

“Bhuvi is a very intelligent bowler, he has got good yorkers, delivers the slower one well, and has a good mix-up as well, and doesn’t allow the batters to settle down. He is playing for many years and has a fine knowledge and experience,” Rajput added.

“Malik bowls at 145+, and is a new star and can make it to the Indian team as well. The way he bowls, I think it’s fantastic and the selectors are looking for the ones who can bowl at that pace, and he’s got a great mental strength as well,” Rajput concluded.
