'Sunset at the southernmost tip of India' - Chennai Super Kings after MS Dhoni and Suresh Raina announce international retirement
MS Dhoni and Suresh Raina announced international retirement together on Saturday.
On the occasion of India’s 74th Independence Day, a social media post by the former Indian captain MS Dhoni left the cricketing fans in shock. In the evening, the captain who won all the ICC trophies quietly walked away from the gentleman’s game by making an announcement on his official Instagram handle. Following his footsteps, veteran cricketer Suresh Raina also announced his retirement from international cricket.
Both MS and Raina will represent the IPL franchise Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) which is scheduled from September 19 to November 10 in the United Arab Emirates. Both are currently staying together as CSK has organised a six-day conditioning camp for its players at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, behind closed doors before travelling to UAE.
CSK post a picture of MS Dhoni and Suresh Raina
As the two legendary players bid adieu to the game of cricket, a plethora of cricketers recalled their exemplary contribution to the game and wished them best for the new journey of their lives. The Twitter handle of Chennai Super Kings paid tribute to their Thala and Chinna Thala by posting an adorable picture of them hugging each other.
Decoding the caption, it seems that the picture was clicked on the evening of 15th at around 6:35 PM during the sunset. “Date: Independence Day Time: Sunset at the southernmost tip of India Place: Chepauk, their Anbuden #73Forever #Thala #ChinnaThala,” the caption read.
Both Mahi and Raina are great friends and the latter has always spoken highly of the Ranchi Stalwart. The 33-year-old credits MS for giving him a chance in the Indian team and changing his life for good. The two also play together for CSK since the start of their IPL journey and have led it to the title thrice.
While MS Dhoni last played for India during the semi-final match of World Cup 2019 where the Kiwis outshined the Men in Blue, Suresh Raina last donned the Indian jersey in 2018 and was out of the team since then.
