The Super Striker of the Season award is given to the player with the highest batting strike rate after facing a minimum of 100 balls in an Indian Premier League (IPL) season. The winner receives a car as a reward. The award was introduced in 2018 and has been continued ever since. Players from Delhi Capitals (DC), Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) have won the award twice, while a Mumbai Indians player has won it once.
Sunil Narine won the inaugural award in 2018 with KKR, boasting a strike rate of 189.89. The following season, another KKR player, Andre Russell, claimed the award with a sensational strike rate of 204.8, making the feat even more remarkable as he scored 506 runs in the season. In 2020, MI's Kieron Pollard won the award with an impressive strike rate of 191.42.
Batting wasn't easy in the 2021 season, which was evident as the highest strike rate recorded that year was just 168.05. Shimron Hetmyer won the award in 2021 with DC. In 2022 and 2023, two RCB players secured the honour—Dinesh Karthik had a strike rate of 183.33 in 2022, while Glenn Maxwell finished with 183.48 in the following year. The most recent winner, Jake Fraser-McGurk, registered a staggering strike rate of 234.04 with DC in 2024.
With IPL 2025 set to feature some of the most explosive batters in the game, it will be exciting to see who emerges as the Super Striker of the Season in the IPL 2025 edition.
