Supernovas skipper Harmanpreet Kaur grabbed the spotlight when she took a flying catch to dismiss Velocity’s fiery batter, Shafali Verma during the second match of the Women’s T20 Challenge 2022. Supernovas had won their first encounter against the Trailblazers and had their second match scheduled hardly within 16 hours. They surely put out their best, but Velocity outclassed the two-time champions in the hunt for their first title.
Even though Supernovas lost the game, Kaur’s efforts to dismiss Verma off Deandra Dottin’s delivery provided their team with a major breakthrough. Dottin bowled a short and wide delivery to Verma, who tried to hit it towards the backward point, aiming for a boundary. But Kaur dived to her left, which is her weaker side, and took a one-handed catch to produce one of the finest catches of the season and dismiss Verma after she compiled her half-century.

She had a fantastic outing on Tuesday, May 24, while leading her side against Velocity. She played a magnificent knock with the bat, scoring 71 runs off 51 deliveries in the first innings of the game, and backed it up with an outstanding catch in the second innings. She was the top scorer for her side, and rescued the team, alongside wicketkeeper-batter Taniya Bhatia when the Supernovas were struggling at 18/3 in the fourth over.
Harmanpreet Kaur on the hunt for her third championship trophy
Kaur is known for her skills as an all-rounder. Apart from leading the side, she’s a power hitter, a great bowler, and an even better fielder. She has been in great form for the past few months in franchise-based cricket matches. She displayed decent efforts in The Hundred for the Manchester Originals, and then went on to achieve laurels in the Women’s Big Bash League for Melbourne Renegades.
Kaur has led the Supernovas to victory in the first two editions of the tournament, in the year 2018 and 2019. Thus, she will be looking to make it a hat-trick of victories by winning the ongoing edition. The Supernovas have played both their scheduled matches and would now hope for the Velocity to defeat the Trailblazers in the third and final fixture of the stage, in order to make their way into the finals.
