Suresh Raina arrested at Mumbai Club for violating COVID-19 norms; later released on bail

Former India cricketer Suresh Raina is going through tough times since the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). He was in the news for all the wrong reasons after hastily pulling out of the entire tournament. Several reports surfaced about rifts between him and the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) management. And now he has once made the headlines after being arrested at the Mumbai Dragonfly Club in a police raid.
As per the updates on social media, Suresh Raina travelled to Mumbai for a certain event it seems as he posted a picture with Bollywood actor Bobby Deol on Monday. He was with popular singer Guru Randhawa at the club in Mumbai near the airport.
A total of 34 people from the club were arrested and booked for violating the COVID norms. Among arrested, seven from Mumbai Club were also taken into custody. They were arrested under section 188 of IPC, Bombay Police Act and Epidemic Disease Act. Sahar Police Station confirmed that Suresh Raina and Guru Randhawa were among those violating the rules as well. All arrested were later released, including Raina, on bail.
According to Republic World, Mumbai Police issued an official statement which read, “offence has been registered u/s 188, 269, 34 IPC and u/s 51 NDMA against 34 persons at Sahar police station after raid was conducted at 2.50 AM at Dragonfly pub, for keeping establishment open beyond permissible time limit, not following Covid norms such as social distancing, not wearing face mask.”
Suresh Raina set to make a comeback on the field
Suresh Raina retired from international cricket along with MS Dhoni on August 15 this year. But he didn’t play the IPL for personal reasons. He is not set to make a comeback on the field after a long gap for his domestic team Uttar Pradesh. He has also been named in the probable squad of the team as well and is also set to lead the side in the upcoming Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy.
