Suresh Raina elated after watching the masterclass of Rohit and Kohli
India posted a mammoth total of 337/6 after 50 overs.
The discarded Indian cricketer Suresh Raina has congratulated Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma for their magnificent tons in the third ODI against New Zealand. The Indian skipper brought up his landmark 32nd century whereas the vice-captain crossed the three-figure mark for the 15th time in his ODI career. However, Raina seemed to have enjoyed the partnership between the two and appreciated their efforts in the decider.
After being invited to bat first by the Kiwi skipper, India lost the wicket of Shikhar Dhawan early courtesy Tim Southee. But then Kohli and Rohit came together and piled on the agony of the New Zealand bowlers. They added 230 runs for the second wicket as the latter was dismissed on 147 in the 42nd over. The runs continued to flow even after that MS Dhoni joined in the fun and Kedar Jadhav too chipped in with a useful score 18 off just 10 deliveries. India finished with a gigantic score of 337/6 in their stipulated 50 overs.
Raina’s messages to centurions
Suresh Raina couldn’t stop himself from posting the messages for his teammates and congratulated both of them for their superlative knocks. He also noted that the Indian skipper became the fastest player to reach 9000 runs in ODI format and didn’t forget to mention it in his congratulatory post. He termed Rohit as a hitman and wrote, “Great knock by India’s Hitman! @ImRo45 congrats on yet another 100…such clean hitting!”
His message for Kohli after his record-breaking century was, “Terrific effort, @imVkohli! Congratulations on your century and on becoming the fastest to reach to 9K runs. Wish you many more. #INDvNZ.” Raina is striving hard to return to the national side and would love to contribute to the team yet again. India will be locking horns against Sri Lanka for three ODIs and as many T20Is in December and it remains to be seen if the selectors include him in the squad.
