Suresh Raina enthused about the performance of Indian Women in WWC
Raina all praises for the Mithali Raj- led team
Be it men’s cricket or women’s, if there is one man who is the most enthused whenever India wins, it has to be Suresh Raina. After witnessing the Indian Women’s Team winning streak in then ongoing Women’s World Cup, Raina could not help himself but praise the women’s brigade and had a special word or two for Deepti Sharma, who is from the same state as Raina.
The Indian Women’s Team continued their march in the Premier One Day event, after their win against the Sri Lankan women yesterday at Derby. In this tournament, India established themselves as tournament favourites along with Australia, after winning all their four matches in the tournament.
Raina had some special mentions for Deepti Sharma, who was adjudged as the player of the match for her innings which set up the Indian win. Deepti Sharma belongs to Agra which lies in the same state as Raina’s. The left-handed batsman, who was last seen captaining the Gujarat Lions is currently on vacation with family in Amsterdam.
Raina all praises for the Mithali Raj- led team
“The Indian team is on a roll and all credit goes to Mithali (Raj) — how she is able to extract performance from the youngsters apart from doing well herself. The win against Pakistan was special and I am cheering for them to go all the way and win the World Cup,” commented Suresh Raina according to Hindustan Times.
“I am so proud of Deepti, the way she batted with maturity alongside Mithali, showing her intent. The wicket was on the slower side. Keeping this in mind, Deepti pushed for singles and couples to build up her innings at the start and later she went for the shots. Her shot selection was impeccable. After my training here, I watched the highlights,” further continued the southpaw.
Raina believes that there are many more innings in store for Deepti in the tournament. “Deepti is going to rock again with the bat. Wait for more brilliant knocks from her. I am also surprised at the turn she is getting with her off-spinners in England” concluded Suresh Raina.
