Veteran Indian batsman Suresh Raina had a big disappointment recently. Much against all expectations, the southpaw was not named in the Indian squad for the upcoming limited overs series against Sri Lanka. Team India is scheduled to play 5 ODIs and a solitary T20I against Sri Lanka during the series. Raina, who has been out of the national side for almost over a year now, was expected to stage a comeback with the series.

However, neither did Suresh Raina get a place in the side, nor did the likes of Yuvraj Singh manage to keep their stakes in the side alive. Amidst this situation, it was expected that the veteran Uttar Pradesh batsman would be disappointed.

However, it is indeed very sporting to see Raina not bogging down and continuing his spirit to excel at the highest level. He has been training very hard in the recent times. Many had remarked that he has put on a lot of weight and hence has become lethargic on the field – a quality that one could never associate with Raina when he was at his prime. Raina hit the training sessions hard and got back to supreme fitness.

Taking fitness very seriously

He kept his fans updated about his fitness regimes and the levels with social media updates. Almost a week ago, he had noted that he was heading to the NCA, Bengaluru, to check his fitness quotient after months of rigorous trainings. Now, he uploaded a video on his social media handle wherein he is seen hitting the nets hard. He added a caption to the video and mentioned that he had some serious time at the nets and spent a lot of time on his fielding.

“After a heavy circuit training this morning it’s time to hit the nets! Some #hits, some #catches & lots of #fielding. Loved it! @UPCACricket,” tweeted Suresh Raina.
