Sonu Sood, the popular Bollywood actor, has recently lent his helping hand for the ones severely affected in the coronavirus pandemic. The veteran generally plays the role of villains in movies, but in real life, he has come out as hero. He has been helping thousands of migrant workers, who are stranded in the city of Mumbai due to the ungodly virus, return home.
Back in March 24, Honourable Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the lockdown. Even after two months, with the situation not coming under control, there are chances of the lockdown extending even further. Maharashtra has been largely been under the stranglehold of the COVID-19. Over 52,660 have been infected with almost 1,700 persons losing their lives.
Sonu Sood trying his heart out
“It gave me sleepless nights when I saw visuals of people walking hundreds of kilometres to reach their villages,” Sood was quoted as saying in an interview with BBC. In India, over 1,52,000 have been affected by the coronavirus with the same accounting for the lives of over 4,330. For the last two months, Sood along with his childhood friend Niti Goel has been helping the needy.
“We started in March by distributing food, we started with 500 packets of cooked meals and groceries. Today we are distributing food and groceries every day to 4,500 people in slums, those stranded on the roads and those walking on the highways,” he told from Mumbai.
In the meantime, Suresh Raina, the veteran Indian batsman, has lauded Sood for his selfless efforts towards the under-privileged. The Uttar Pradesh cricketer uploaded a video. He captioned the short clip and wrote, “In this pandemic stage, Sonu Sood has been tirelessly helping migrants from different places. He will be remembered for his good deeds,”

Raina was set to play for the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the Indian Premier League (IPL). However, he will have to wait for a while before action resumes. It’s because the IPL has been postponed for an indefinite period of time. He has been playing for CSK since the inaugural edition. He is also the second highest run-scorer in the IPL after RCB’s Virat Kohli.
