Suresh Raina to release his own music video

It’s been a long sabbatical for Suresh Raina, who last donned the national outfit way back in February 2017 when England visited the country. Raina had scored 63 runs of India’s 202 as the hosts won the match by 75 runs but failed to pass the Yo-Yo test, hence did not qualify for India selection.

Though he worked a lot on his batting, his performance in the recently concluded Ranji season was not up to the mark. Thus in the interim, the swashbuckling left-hander decided to take on a different endeavour. Raina, who has earlier lent his voice to Bollywood movie Meeruthiya Gangsters, is all set to launch his own music video. The 31-year-old recently disclosed the promotional video for the upcoming project.

Apart from Raina, his wife Priyanka, and their daughter Gracia also feature in the video. He took to his Instagram account to post a snippet of his musical. He captioned it saying, “Be the change you wish to see in the world – Mahatma Gandhi”.

Raina faces an uphill task to make a return to the Indian squad

After failing to pass the yo-yo test on multiple occasions, Raina eventually cleared it in December. However, despite the success, Indian selectors did not pick him in the 17-member team for the ODI leg of the South African tour.

Raina although played all the matches for his side Uttar Pradesh in the Ranji Trophy, he did not look on song and unfortunately suffered a pale patch throughout the season.

In the 12 innings he played, the dashing southpaw managed just 105 runs at an average of 11.66 with his highest score being just 33, numbers that don’t warrant a frontline batsman a place in his stateside, let alone the national side.

And with the likes of Shreyas, Dinesh Karthik, Manish Pandey, and Kedar Jadhav fighting for a place in the middle order, Raina will face an uphill task to make a return in the Indian squad.
