Suresh Raina wishes Shoaib Malik on Twitter; wins hearts of Pakistan fans
Raina is usually seen having a great comrade even with his opponents.
Suresh Raina who was out of favor since February 2017 is back again in the thick of the things. The left-handed batsman has had troubles with his fitness and form. He wasn’t able to clear the Yo-Yo test. Also, he didn’t have a great IPL last year. All of this has seen him being axed from the Indian cricket team. Moreover, it has been quite a while since he featured in the ODI squad or the Test squad.
However, putting all of this aside, the 31-year-old worked extremely hard on his fitness. He cleared the Yo-Yo test towards the end of last year. Early this year, Raina was retained by the Chennai Super Kings for Rs. 11 crores. The feeling of just being back wearing the yellow jersey might have done a world of good to his confidence. He was seen getting back into touch in the Syed Mushtaq Ali tournament.
‘Janmadin Mubarak’: Raina
Raina lighted up the Syed Mushtaq Ali tournament by hitting a brilliant century. He roared back into form when he hit a 49-ball century in the tournament. He remained unbeaten on 126 of just 59 deliveries helping his team post a total of 235 on board. Raina followed this innings up with another impressive half-century when he scored 61 runs off 41 balls in the next match.
On the back of some impressive performances and having cleared the Yo-Yo test, he was called back into the Indian team. He features in the T20 squad against the Proteas. India will take the Proteas on in a 3-match T20 series starting 18th February. He is most likely to make a comeback into the side on the 18th.
On the eve of Shoaib Malik’s birthday, Raina took to Twitter to wish him. He wrote ‘Janmadin Mubarak’ in Hindi on his Twitter handle meaning ‘Happy Birthday’. Raina also hoped for Shoaib to have a great year ahead. Shoaib was recently hit on his head and was injured while batting in an ODI match against New Zealand.
