Suresh Raina's management team releases statement after the cricketer was arrested in Mumbai

Suresh Raina already made headlines while he pulled out of the latest edition of IPL 2020 due to certain reasons. He has hogged the limelight yet again due to his latest actions. Raina was in Mumbai owing to some shoot and went to a local club with some friends. However, it was reported that he was not in line with COVID-19 protocols as no social distancing and usage of masks was observed.
Raina was there with some other people, who were also arrested by Mumbai Police while they were on a raid. It was reported that the club was open post 11 PM, which is against the latest COVID-19 protocols. However, Raina was later released on bail. In the latest turn of events, Raina’s management has released the statement in the cricketer’s defense. It stated that he was not aware of the local rules and was suddenly invited by a friend for the dinner in that club.
“Suresh was in Mumbai for a shoot which extended to late hours and was invited by a friend for a quick dinner post the same prior to him taking his flight back to Delhi. He was not aware of the local timings and protocols. 1/2 contd..,” read the statement from his management team.

Raina and 33 other people were booked under section 188 of IPC, Bombay Police Act, and Epidemic Disease. Raina is not having a good time on the field as well as he didn’t ply his trade with his team Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2020. However, it has been reported that the player will turn up for his state team, Uttar Pradesh in the domestic circuit again.
“Offence has been registered u/s 188, 269, 34 IPC and u/s 51 NDMA against 34 persons at Sahar police station after the raid was conducted at 2.50 AM at Dragonfly pub, for keeping establishment open beyond the permissible time limit, not following Covid norms such as social distancing, not wearing a face mask,” read the official statement from Mumbai Police after arresting Suresh Raina and 33 other people.
