'Suryakumar Yadav will never leave India to play for any other country' - Danish Kaneria slams PCB as Sami Aslam moves to the USA
Aslam took the decision after he was snubbed for Pakistan's tour of England in summer and the upcoming series in New Zealand.
Former Pakistan spinner Danish Kaneria has stated that Suryakumar Yadav will have to never look for opportunities outside India, unlike some Pakistan cricketers. Kaneria said that Pakistan continues to lose talents to other countries because of the lack of support from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). His comments came after Sami Aslam shifted base to the USA.
Aslam took the decision after he was snubbed for Pakistan’s tour of England in summer and the upcoming series in New Zealand. Earlier this year, he was also demoted to Balochistan’s second XI. Unhappy with the demotion, he had withdrawn from the National T20 Cup. But he returned to action in the Quaid-e-Azam trophy and played three games before pulling out from the competition.
Speaking about the same, Kaneria said that Suryakumar will have to never take such a step because of the support he gets from his IPL franchise and the BCCI. Kaneria also supported Aslam’s decision of moving to the USA. Kaneria, who is himself urging the PCB to support him, also alleged that nepotism is rife within Pakistan cricket.
“He (Sami Aslam) was a consistent player. There’s been injustice done with him. He never got the chances that people like Shan Masood, Imam-ul-Haq did,” Danish Kaneria said in a video posted on his YouTube channel.
“It is unfortunate that PCB behaves in such a way that players need to leave their homes. India’s Suryakumar Yadav got an offer from Scott Styris to play for New Zealand, but his franchise has stood by him, the BCCI has stood by him, so he will not leave India,” added Kaneria.
The tweet from Scott Styris
Danish Kaneria was referring to the tweet from Styris during IPL 2020. After Suryakumar failed to find a spot in India’s squads for the ongoing tour of Australia, Styris had asked whether the batsman fancies playing international cricket for any other country. Suryakumar faced the snub despite delivering consistently with the bat in the IPL as well as domestic cricket in the last few years.
