Virat Kohli is once again in the news for all the wrong reasons thanks to thesledging incident with Suryakumar Yadav during the match between Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday. The RCB skipper was at his animated best throughout the match before Mumbai Indians won the game by five wickets.

Kohli was extremely charged up and his reaction every time Mumbai Indians lost a wicket made it very clear. But the one wicket he would have wanted, his bowlers could not get it. RCB could not dismiss Suryakumar as the Mumbai batsman went on to play a stunning knock of 79* off just 43 balls to help his side clinch the game.

Suryakumar walked out to bat in the sixth over and remained till the end to take the defending champions over the line. Kohli, on the other hand, tried everything to get rid of the in-form batsman. When the plans with the ball did not work out, he even tried to unsettle Suryakumar by sledging but failed.

On the last ball of the 13th over, Yadav hit Dale Steyn to extra cover where Kohli fielded the ball. After collecting the ball, Kohli kept walking towards the crease while Suryakumar stood with a deadpan expression on his face staring at Kohli. Both players kept looking at each other before Suryakumar decided to walk away.

Old tweets dismiss the possibility of bad blood between the duo

The incident didn’t go down well with some fans as they criticized the India skipper for trying to get under the skin of the batsman. Some fans also lauded Suryakumar for “giving it back” to Kohli. The staring contest also raised the possibility of bad blood between Kohli and Suryakumar. Several fans suggested that Suryakumar was not happy with Kohli over the India snub and made his emotions clear by staring at the RCB skipper.

But those speculations were soon quashed after some old tweets of the Mumbai batsman surfaced. A number of fans shared those tweets wherein the 30-year old was all praises of Kohli. In one of his tweets, he even called Kohli ‘God’.

Here are the tweets from Suryakumar:
