Sushma Verma offered the role of Deputy Superintendent of Police

After a memorable ICC Women’s World Cup campaign, Sushma Verma finds herself greeted with a valuable offer. Considering Sushma’s valiant show in the World Cup, the Himachal Pradesh government has offered her the prestigious post of Deputy Superintendent of Police. Verma is an integral part of the Indian squad that reached the grand finale deserved this wonderful gesture.

Though the team could not lift the World Cup Trophy it was a fairytale journey for the team. Their efforts were hailed by cricketing legends all over the world as the girls made the nation proud.

Chief Minister Vibhadra Singh made the announcement saying ““the government has invited Sushma Verma to join the post of DSP in HP Police as she has brought laurels to the state and to the people of Himachal Pradesh by excelling herself in international cricket “.

Background:

Sushma Verma, who is the wicketkeeper of the Indian Women’s team hails from Himri Panchayat of Shimla Rural. Verma took to her official Twitter account before the match tweeted an inspiring line for the fans. Her tweet read ”excellence comes to those who create opportunity out of problems”.

Verma was born in Shimla on the date of November 3rd, 1992. She began her national career by picking up the role of a wicketkeeper and a right-handed batsman for the team. Before breaking into the national scene, Verma played for Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association. In the Under-19 All-India women’s tournament in 2011, Sushma Verma captained the Himachal side and took them all the way to finals. Unfortunately for the cricketer, she failed to lift the trophy. However, Verma is the first cricketer from Himachal Pradesh to don the Indian national team jersey both in the men’s and women’s circuit.

Her domestic career saw her play for the Railways with some of the big names from the current Indian side. Skipper Mithali Raj, Harmanpreet Kaur and Punam Raut played alongside Verma in the Railways.
