The last meeting between the two teams was on January 14th, 2024, where Adelaide Strikers emerged victorious by 9 wickets. Batting first, Sydney Thunder posted a mediocre total of 140/10, with Alex Hales top-scoring with 43 runs. Lloyd Pope was the standout bowler for Adelaide Strikers, picking up four wickets. In reply, the Strikers lost D'Arcy Short for 15 runs, but Matthew Short and Jake Weatherald remained unbeaten on 74 and 47, respectively, to guide their team to victory.
