Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy 2019, Round 4 - Review
Tamil Nadu registered a thrilling one run win against Gujarat in a see-saw Group B fixture.
It was a day of low scoring thrillers in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy which saw the likes of Tamil Nadu, Delhi, Vidarbha and Mumbai register crucial wins. Karnataka though had smashed their opponents once again, registering 242 runs in their 20 overs banking on fifties from Rohan Kadam and Karun Nair. Mizoram could only register 105 runs in response, which gifted Karnataka a 137-run win.
Tamil Nadu and Gujarat played out the game of the day, which saw a thrilling one-run win in favor of the South Indian side. Tamil Nadu crawled their way to 124 on a tough batting surface and in response, Gujarat’s Chirag Gandhi registered a 66-ball 68. He remained unbeaten till the end, but the side got bowled out with two runs to get and one delivery still left in the game.
Hyderabad continued their miserable run in the tournament, losing four in four games. The semifinalists of the Vijay Hazare Trophy registered 124 runs batting first wit Ambati Rayudu scoring 47 off 34 balls. In response, Maharashtra chased the total down with ease and moved into the top four of the Group E table.
Vidarbha had a tricky game against Rajasthan. Batting first, the current Ranji champions stuttered big time as Khaleel Ahmed’s 5-fer restricted them to 117 runs.
