Jharkhand and Karnataka continued their impressive run in the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy on Wednesday as both sides registered impressive wins in their respective group games. Uttar Pradesh edged Services in a nerve-wracking battle while Bengal massacred Arunachal Pradesh in their Group D fixture.
Wriddhiman Saha scored his second century in T20s having scored his first in the IPL final against Kolkata Knight Riders in 2014. His 129 off 62 balls helped Bengal notch a massive 234 runs on the board. Arunachal Pradesh could only manage 127 runs in their 20 overs and suffered a 107-run defeat.
Uttar Pradesh scored 138 runs batting first against Services with Samarth Singh and Rinku Singh scoring half-centuries. Other than these two, no batsmen registered double digits and that restricted them to a low score. Services looked in a good position to hunt the total down, but some brilliant death-over bowling from the UP bowlers kept them at bay by a crucifying margin of 1 run.
Railways produced the result of the day as they defeated the 41-time Ranji champions Mumbai by a stupendous 57-run margin. Pratham Singh was the star with the bat for Railways, who scored 89 off 60 deliveries which guided his side to 175 in their 20 overs. In reply, Mumbai never got going despite such a star-studded lineup and got bowled out for 118 runs. Ashish Yadav picked up 4 wickets for Railways.
