Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is all set to flex its administrative gears in the upcoming days. The Indian domestic cricket went for a complete toss after the outbreak of the pandemic. Hence, the board is gearing up to organise the most prestigious limited-overs tournament Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy from January 10.
The teams are instructed to assemble by January 2. In a note sent via email, Shah mentioned that each team can have a maximum of 20 players and 10 members in support staff. Moreover, he made it clear that every team should have a team physician to manage Covid-19-related issues. Also, the individual would be considered separate from the team physiotherapist and is inclusive of the 10 support staff.
BCCI top brass are taking all the pre-emptive actions before the tournament
“Each team can have a maximum of 20 players and 10 support staff. Each team should have a team physician to manage Covid-19-related issues. The team physician is separate from the team physiotherapist and is inclusive of the 10 support staff. The health and safety of all members of the teams, match officials, and state association staff members is central to our planning for the upcoming domestic season.
“Whilst Covid-19 has changed the way the domestic season will be conducted, measures and systems are being implemented across travel, accommodation, training, and matches to ensure that we can deliver the domestic season in a Covid-19 safe environment,” the note sent in email read according to Indian Express.
It goes without saying that BCCI will leave no stones unturned to make this tournament a grand success. The 13th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) took place in the United Arab Emirates thanks to BCCI for excellent management of the competition.
Therefore, there has been huge demand from the fans and players to kick-start the domestic matches as soon as possible. It will be exciting to see the cricketers coming back to the field and do what they enjoy doing the most.
