Hyderabad won the toss and batted first, setting a target of 132 with Hanuma Vihari (32 from 31 balls) top-scoring for them. Gujarat, in reply, were sailing smoothly until the middle order collapsed taking them from 106/2 to 129/7. However, the target was small and was overhauled in the last over of the match with 3 wickets in hand.

Brief Scores:

Hyderabad: 131/7 in 20 overs (H Vihari 32; RP Singh 3/15)

2. Vidarbha register their first win

Haryana won the toss and could only set up a functional total of 140/2. The middle order batsmen simply could not jet off to a commanding total. S Hooda (65 in 56 balls) was their only batsman who could negotiate the tight Vidarbha bowling. Vidarbha did not face any problem while chasing as they overhauled the target in 19.2 overs with 8 wickets in hand. S Joshi (61 from 46 balls) starred in the chase.

Brief Scores:

Haryana: 136/8 in 20 overs (S Hooda 65; L Jangid 3/13)

3. Cheteshwar Pujara thumps J&K

The misery continued for J&K in the tournament as they face their third consecutive embarrassing loss in as many days. J&K won the toss and put Saurashtra to bat. Cheteshwar Pujara was at his destructive best as he hit 81 off just 55 deliveries to take Saurashtra to 157/7 in 20 overs. J&K, in reply, could not even come close to Saurashtra’s total as they were all out for 84 in 17.1 overs. Except Ian Chauhan (30 from 35) and Mithun Manhas (17 from 16 balls), no other batsmen could manage a double-figure against their name.

Brief Scores:

Saurashtra: 157/7 in 20 overs (C Pujara 81; Mohammad Mudhasir 2/15)

Jammu and Kashmir: 84 all out in 17.1 overs (I. Chauhan 30; A Jadeja 3/19)

4. Assam chase down a modest target

Goa’s losing streak continued as they were handed another defeat by Assam. Goa could only manage 132/7 in 20 overs after being put into bat by Assam. Suresh Raina (28 from 15 balls) then continued the good work and took UP over the 100 run mark. However, the Railways bowlers kept striking in small intervals and none of their batsmen was able to put in a match-winning effort.

Brief Scores:

Andhra: 115 all out in 19.4 overs (Karan Shinde 28; Ranjeet Mali 4/26)

They had a slow start but Pramod Chandila, who came at number five smashed 70 runs off just 39 deliveries to push Bengal to a respectable total. Himachal had a blazing start even after losing the first wicket cheaply. S Chopra (74 in 61 balls) and K Dogra (52 in 38 balls) turned the game into Himachal’s favor. Both shared a 110 runs partnership and had almost sealed the match. However, Bengal bowlers made a remarkable comeback after the partnership was broken in the 15th over with the wicket of Dogra and defended the total to win the game by just two runs.
