Day 2 of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2017 saw a bevy of mixed-bag results that ensured that there was indeed a chance for all the teams to make their way into the knockout stages of the edition of the Zonal T20 domestic trophy. Madhya Pradesh began with an impressive 17-run win Venkatesh Iyer fired for his side towards the close of the innings, something that the Rajasthan side simply did not expect.

Karnataka, the team that had gotten off to a poor start in the grand scheme of things with a loss against Tamil Nadu made amends for the same when they went ahead and secured an impressive win over Kerala by 19 runs. K Gowtham and Mayank Aggarwal smashed twin half-centuries to ensure the same.

However, in somewhat of a dramatic turnaround, it was Tamil Nadu that lost their encounter against a resurgent Hyderabad when they were skittled out for a paltry 93. However, despite this, the encounter between Punjab and Delhi was a magnificent one to watch given the fact that it concluded in somewhat of a close shave win for Punjab. In a supremely low-scoring encounter, it was Punjab that came out the victors.

Jammu & Kashmir lost out to Services while Mumbai and Maharashtra went ahead and secured their wins respectively over Gujarat and Saurashtra. That said, here is the roundup of the day’s play.
