Both Rajputs and Northern Warriors have played two matches each in the qualifier of the 2018 T10 League. The Warriors have made an impressive start and have won both their matches against Kerala Knights and Sindhis. They are next scheduled to lock horns with the Rajputs at Sharjah Cricket Stadium. The Rajputs have had a topsy-turvy season thus far in the T20 tournament.

The team, captained by Black Cap Brendon McCullum, won two matches in the league phase. They lost their first match in the qualifier against Maratha Arabians by 10 wickets but made a stupendous comeback with a victory by 12 runs against Punjabi Legends. They can’t afford another slip-up which may land them in a fair bit of trouble as far as qualifying for the next round of the event is concerned.

Pitch

The pitch isn’t expected to do many favours to the bowlers and runs are again expected to flow. However, the batsmen have found it a tad difficult to take the bowling to the cleaners. Teams are likely to bowl first after winning the toss. Being a night match, due is most likely to play a crucial part. Hence, chasing seems to be the more sensible decision bearing in mind the playing conditions.

Team Combination

Rajputs

Rilee Russouw and wicketkeeper Mohammad Shahzad are the opening batsmen with Australian Ben Dunk to bat at number three. Skipper McCullum will continue batting at number four. Carlos Brathwaite and Peter Trego, the two all-rounders, would bat in the middle order. Tymal Mills, Munaf Patel, Sayed Shirzad are the fast bowlers with Afghanistan bowler Qais Ahmed being the spinner.

Probable XI

Rilee Rossouw, Mohammad Shahzad (wk), Ben Dunk, Brendon McCullum, Carlos Brathwaite, Peter Trego, Rohan Mustafa, Sayed Shirzad, Munaf Patel, Tymal Mills, Qais Ahmad

Northern Warriors

Lendl Simmons and Nicholas Pooran, the wicketkeeper, are the two opening batsman with Rovman Powell to bat at number three. A lot would depend on how the hulk-like Andre Russell wields magic with both bat and ball. Kennar Lewis and Darren Sammy are the others. English all-rounder Ravi Bopara needs to perform as well. Haider, Viljoen, Wahab and Green are the bowlers.

Probable XI

Lendl Simmons, Nicholas Pooran (wk), Rovman Powell, Andre Russell, Kennar Lewis, Darren Sammy, Ravi Bopara, Imran Haider, Hardus Viljoen, Wahab Riaz, Chris Green

Probable Top Performers

Mohammad Shahzad – Rajputs | Lendl Simmons – Northern Warriors
