T10 League: Umpire Aleem Dar cops a nasty blow on his head
The umpire had to go through a concussion test as well.
Pakistan umpire Aleem Dar was on the receiving end, as he got a nasty hit on the head, which seemed dangerous. This happened during the 13th game of the T10 League 2021-22. The match was being played between Chennai Braves and Northern Warriors.
The game turned out to be an absolute cracker of a contest, Kennar Lewis and Moeen Ali were brutal, to say the least. They got their side off to a brilliant start with the score reading 83/0 in 5 overs. Both, the keeper-batter and the English all-rounder scored 49 off just 19 deliveries.
After scoring 152 runs in their 10 overs, Powell’s boys dismissed their opposition for 133 in the second innings. Kennar went on to win the player of the match and thus, the Warriors got their first win of the tournament. The Braves, on the other hand, are yet to win their first game and thus, are last on the points table.
Fielder’s throw goes wrong, hits Aleem Dar
Despite all the audacious boundaries and sixes hit, the umpire getting injured was the scariest moment of the match. Aleem Dar was left bruised after coping with a nasty blow on his head. In the fifth over of the first innings, the fielder intended to throw the ball back to the fielder.
However, the 53-year-old was unfortunately in the way and thus, got hit on the back of his head. Fortunately for him, the ball had bounced on its way, and thus, it reduced the intensity of the hit. He then looked in discomfort and seemed to be struggling with pain.
The former cricketer was then attended by the Northern Warriors physio, what followed was a basic concussion test. A few moments later, he felt he was fine and thus, continued to be the umpire for the remainder of the game. This came as a sigh of relief to all the players as well as the fans. Much to the delight of everyone, he then operated as a third umpire during match 17 between Bangla Tigers and Team Abu Dhabi on Friday.
