There was just one game that was played on the 24th day of the Vitality T20 Blast. It was a North group encounter between Nottinghamshire and Worcestershire which was played at Trent Bridge in Nottingham. Both the teams are in good form and won their previous encounter. Hence, the fans were expecting a humdinger of a night.
However, it ended up being one-sided. It was Worcestershire all the way through. They are the most dominant team in the North group and continued their good work. With 7 wins in 10 games, they stand on the top of the points table with 15 points. Callum Ferguson with an unbelievable century was the star of the day.
Nottinghamshire vs Worcestershire – North Group
Worcestershire opted to bat first after winning the toss. However, they lost their in-form opener Joe Clarke for just 6 runs only in the second over of the innings. But, skipper Moeen Ali and Callum Ferguson got their act together to put up a brilliant partnership on the board. The duo added 135 runs for the second wicket in just 12 overs.
Although Moeen got out after scoring 65 off 36 balls, Ferguson went on to score a superb century. He was unbeaten on 102 which came off 56 deliveries. Ross Whiteley helped provide the final flourish with 32 off 18 as the team ended up posting 206 runs on the board for the loss of only 2 wickets.
Nottinghamshire never seemed to be in the chase. They kept losing wickets at regular intervals. Their top three failed to deliver. Although Steven Mullaney kept them interested briefly with a 55 off 29 balls, he was run out at the wrong time. Their skipper Dan Christian also failed in this game. Nottinghamshire fell short of the target by a massive 72 runs as they were bowled out for just 134 runs.
