England batter Liam Livingstone is one of the most powerful ball-strikers going around and is known for playing lightning-quick knocks. He was also part of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022, playing 14 games for Punjab Kings scoring 437 runs with a strike rate of 182.08. He carried on that form with Lancashire and took England’s T20 Blast by storm with his fierce hitting.

Livingstone scored 75 off 40 balls against Derbyshire on Wednesday with five fours and as many sixes. His partnership with Dane Vilas, and quick cameos in the back-end of the innings by Tim David and Steven Croft helped Lancashire post a massive total of 219. In addition to his batting heroics, he also bowled four overs and picked up the wicket of Harry Came. Lancashire went on to win by 17 runs.

Liam Livingstone launches one over mid-wicket

Meanwhile, Livingstone’s fiery innings also involved a six that went over mid-wicket into a construction site. The 28-year-old was facing left-arm spinner Mark Watt and he dispatched one into the construction area. The commentators on air said, “How on earth do you find the ball in the middle of all that?”. The ball was retrieved by one of the construction workers at the ground shortly after. This effort was acknowledged by Vitality Blast on Twitter saying, “Shoutout to the builders who helped retrieve the match ball”.

This is not the first time the Englishman caught the attention for hitting sixes. In the recently concluded IPL, he hit a 117-meter six facing Mohammed Shami of Gujarat Titans, making it one of the biggest sixes in the history of the tournament.

The Indian talismanic bowler pitched it short on the off-stump line, and the Punjab Kings batter was quick to pounce on that to send it to the top tier of Dr. DY Patil Sports Academy. It also got his captain Mayank Agarwal off his seat to witness the humongous hit.
