20-year-old Shaheen Shah Afridi has achieved an astonishing feat during a Vitality Blast encounter between Hampshire and Middlesex. The Pakistani speedster scalped four wickets in four deliveries to etch his name into records books and steering Hampshire to a 20-run triumph.
All the action unfurled in the last four deliveries of Afridi’s spell when Middlesex needed 22 runs to win in last 16 deliveries. It was looking like a feasible target for Middlesex, especially when a well-set John Simpson was at the crease with 48 runs to his name.
However, it was a bitter twist in the tale for Middlesex after Afridi scalped four in four including Simpson’s wicket. It was an astonishing feat for the youngster, considering he clean bowled all his preys.

Having registered a disappointing 1 for 191 across his first six outings, Afridi retaliated with an incredible six-wicket haul to end Hampshire’s losing streak. Afridi, for his massacre, was also named Man of the Match as he registered impressive figures of 6/19 at Rose Bowl, Southampton.
With this win, Hampshire ended their woeful run in the tournament. They managed to register only two victories from 10 matches in their campaign, finishing bottom in the South Group with only five points.
The left-arm pacer’s last international assignment was against England when Pakistan toured them for three Tests and as many T20Is. In the third and final T20I of the series at Old Trafford, Afridi had scalped two wickets while conceding 28 runs in his spell.
