T20 cricket has revolutionized the way the game is being played and in the last decade almost every major cricketing nation has come up with their own league. T20 leagues have changed the economy of cricket and has opened many new markets for the game. The staggering television ratings, full packed grounds and rising endorsements have made the T20 leagues a major source of income for different boards around the world.

The rise and introduction of various T20 leagues have also given a lot of players a new lease of life. There are various players who couldn’t do much in international cricket but have made a name for themselves playing in T20 leagues. Every T20 league has its own hero and here is the list of all-time best player in various T20 leagues around the globe.

Suresh Raina (Indian Premier League)

Suresh Raina is referred fondly as “Mr IPL” and is unarguably a legend when it comes to the shortest format. He loves playing in the IPL and his outstanding record in the league is a testimony to that. He has been the backbone of Chennai Super Kings’ success in the tournament. He has scored in excess of 400 runs in almost every season. He can be described as the most trusted and reliable lieutenant of the Chennai team and has been the go-to man for MS Dhoni in difficult times.

The southpaw has amassed 5103 runs in 181 IPL matches and is currently second on the list of most runs scored in the league’s history. Famously nicknamed as “Chinna Thala” by the CSK fans, Suresh Raina has dominated in the IPL seasons after seasons and will undoubtedly go down as one of the greats in the history of the competition.

Michael Klinger (Big Bash League)

Michael Klinger can be described as the unluckiest Australian player in recent times as he was continuously overlooked by the selectors even after piling tons of runs in domestic cricket. He holds the record of scoring most number of centuries and also most number of runs in T20 cricket before making his international debut.

He retired from the Big Bash League (BBL) earlier this year as its leading run scorer with 1947 runs in 71 matches. He played for the Adelaide Strikers in his early days of the league and eventually shifted his base to the Perth Scorchers team.

The veteran won the league two times with the Perth team and was instrumental in both the victories for his team. Michael Klinger is one of the most respected and loved cricketer in Western Australia and is unarguably the best player of the Big Bash League till now.

Wahab Riaz (Pakistan Super League)

Wahab Riaz is an exceptional left-arm fast bowler who has dominated in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) playing for the Peshawar Zalmi team. He is the leading wicket-taker in the PSL with 65 wickets in 45 matches with an impressive economy of 6.76 runs per over. He has been a pivotal member of the Peshawar side and has delivered more often than not for his team.

He also played a major role in their title triumph in 2017 where Wahab took 15 wickets in 10 matches at a staggering average of 13.53 and was also the second highest wicket-taker of the season. Despite not making it into the Pakistan team on a consistent basis, Wahab manages to get the best out of himself in the PSL.

Mashrafe Mortaza (Bangladesh Premier League)

Bangladesh’s ODI captain has been one of the most successful leaders and player in the BPL and has won the tournament a record four times. He was initially part of the Dhaka Gladiators and led them to the title victory two back to back years in 2012 and 2013. When the BPL was re-introduced in 2015, he was bought by the Comilla Victorians and he clinched the trophy for a third time with them in the same year. He then moved to the Rangpur Riders team and again the laid his hands on the trophy in 2017

Playing for three different teams and winning the trophy four times in six seasons is a clear indicator of Mortaza’s cricketing brain and excellent leadership skills. He has also been the second highest wicket-taker in BPL history with 73 wickets to his name.

Chris Gayle (Caribbean Premier League)

Chris Gayle holds the record of most runs, most hundreds, fastest hundred, and most fours and sixes in T20 cricket. He has been part of almost every major T20 league in the world and has dominated and smashed the bowlers all around the globe.

He played for the Jamaica Tallawahs side in the CPL from 2013 to 2016 and was also the captain of the team. He led his team to title victories twice in four years and performed exceptionally while opening the batting. He moved to St Kitts and Nevis Patriots in 2017. The Universe Boss has also been the highest run scorer in CPL history with 2111 runs in 66 matches with three hundred to his name.

Joe Denly (T20 Blast)

Joe Denly has an exceptional record in T20 cricket and has revolutionized his game in the past few years. He has been playing in various T20 leagues around the world recently and is also part of the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) team currently. He has been a major player for the Kent team in T20 Blast and performed brilliantly with both bat and ball in the past few seasons.

Initially a top order batsman, Joe Denly has added a new dimension to his game with his improved leg-spin bowling in recent times. He is currently the highest run scorer in T20 blast with 3927 runs in 151 matches.

Anton Devcich (Super Smash)

Anton Devcich is a hard-hitting opening batsman and a useful left-arm orthodox bowler. He has been an integral part of the Northern Knights team in the Super Smash and has been one of their major players in the league. With his all-round performance with both bat and ball, Anton Devcich was the key in Knight’s title triumph in the 2017-18 season.

He won the Man of the Match award in the final of the tournament where he took three key wickets before scoring an unbeaten 51 runs off 24 balls while sealing the victory for his team with a boundary. He finished the season being the most run scorer with 343 runs in 10 innings and also the second highest wicket-taker that year with 15 wickets in 10 matches.
