With the Indian players not allowed to play other T20 leagues, they are bound to just two T20 tournaments. One is the Indian Premier League (IPL) and the other is their traditional domestic T20 competition, Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Suryakumar Yadav has done really well in both of those and is pushing a case to be selected in the national side.

For two Syed Mushtaq Ali tournaments, Suryakumar had similar tournaments and scored heavily. He averaged in excess of 50 and had a strike-rate in excess of 145 in both. Overall, he played 21 games in the Indian domestic T20 competition and scored 752 runs at an average of 53.71 and a strike-rate of 156.67.

In the IPL, the Mumbai batsman scored 424 runs and had a big role in Mumbai Indians’ title-winning run. Thus, with 1176 runs at an average of 43.55, Suryakumar is 11th on the list most T20 runs this year.
