Arjun Tendulkar continues to make news for all the right reasons. Junior Tendulkar, son of the legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar, was impressive with his exploits on the field. All eyes were on him when he received a contract in the Mumbai T20 League. The allrounder was bought by Aakash Tigers MWS for RS 5 lakh and he was impressing in the opener against Triumphs Knights MNE.

The youngster looked confident right from the onset as made an impressive debut in the Mumbai T20 league. The 19-year-old impressed with both bat and ball, helping Tigers thrash Knights by 5 wickets. Captain Dhawal Kulkarni gave Arjun the responsibility to bowl in the powerplay and he reflected the faith in him with the tremendous spell in which he picked up a wicket as well.

The 19-year-old conceded just 6 runs in his first over and picked up the wicket of rivals’ opener Karan Shah (14) in the second over of the match. He bowled another over in the powerplay and conceded just 8. He finished the innings with impressive figures of 1 for 21 with all of his three overs coming in the powerplay itself.

Tigers thrash Knights

While Arjun impressed with the ball, the Knights ended up posting a competitive total of 147. Fresh off the victorious campaign in the IPL, Knights captain Suryakumar Yadav top-scored for his side, slamming 90 off just 56 balls. He hit 7 sixes and 4 boundaries in his whirlwind knock.

But his efforts eventually went in vain as Tigers won the game by five wickets to start their tournament on a winning note. Openers Kaustubh Pawar (34) and Aakarshit Gomel (41) stitched a 67-run stand to set the tone for the chase. Arjun, who was promoted to bat at No. 3, then impressed with the bat too, scoring 23 off 19 balls including a six over long-on.

The Tigers, meanwhile, will be looking to continue their winning run when they take on Eagle Thane Strikers in their next game on Thursday at the Wankhede Stadium.

Brief Scores: Triumph Knights 147/6 (Surya Kumar Yadav 90 n.o; A Lad 2/12, Arjun Tendulkar 1/21) lost to Aakash Tigers 148/5 (Aakarshit Gomel 41, Kaustubh Pawar 34; K Sawant 2/30) by five wickets.
