The 18th match of the ongoing T20 Mumbai League will see two teams – Triumphs Knights MNE and North Mumbai Panthers – with pretty much similar journeys in the tournament so far taking on each other. Both the Knights and the Panthers have played four games so far and have won two and lost as many. The Knight, however, are placed above the Panthers at the third spot in the points table due to better net run-rate. The momentum is also with the Tigers as they enter the game on the back of a win while the Panthers suffered a defeat in their previous outing.

In their previous outing, the Panthers lost to Aakash Tigers MWE by six wickets. With their skipper, Prithvi Shaw not fit for the clash, in-form opener Vikrant Auti led the side and scored a fine fifty while sharing a 94-run stand with fellow opener Vishal Dhagaonkar. However, the Panthers failed to close their innings strongly and ended on 169 for 6. In reply, the Tigers rode on Shams Mulani’s quickfire fifty to chase down the total with six wickets in hand and four balls remaining.

On the other hand, the Knights got the better of Shivaji Park Lions, thrashing the Siddhesh Lad-led side by eight wickets to get back to winning ways. Riding on Royston Dias’ four-wicket haul, the Knights restricted the Lions to a modest total of 125 for 9. Parikshit Valasangkar and skipper Suryakumar Yadav then scored half-centuries while also sharing an unbeaten stand of 106 runs to take their side home inside 16 overs.

While the Wankhede is traditionally a high-scoring pitch, the ongoing tournament is turning out to be an exception. Batting second still looks the safe bet while anything above 160 looks like a winning total. Most of the teams are scoring in the range of 150-160 and are still managing to take the game to the last over and thus one can say that more than 160 can be a defendable total.

Weather Conditions

There is absolutely no prediction of rain and the temperature will be in the early 30s throughout the match. The humidity will be on the higher side and will hover between 70-75%.

Both the teams are unlikely to make changes to their playing eleven. While the Knights will persist with the same team that steered them to victory in their last outing, the Panthers will make one change as their skipper Prithvi Shaw will return to the side. Sumeet Dhekale, who was out for a duck in the last game, will make room for Shaw.
